Bootsy Collins
BOOTSY COLLINS is one of the all-time great funk and R&B bassists/singer/bandleader. From 1969 to 1971, the group functioned as James Brown's backup band and was dubbed the J.B.'s. In 1972, Bootsy joined George Clinton's Parliament/Funkadelic. Collins and Clinton soon established a lifelong personal and musical friendship. He launched Bootsy's Rubber Band as a spinoff of P-Funk in 1976. Collins' inspired, clever progressions and patterns were a vital part of such records as "Get Up, I Feel Like Being a Sex Machine."

Bootsy Collins' influence on popular culture is inescapable. His SOUND and LOOK are literally stitched into the fabric of modern music, be it R&B, Funk, Rock, Hip-Hop or E.D.M. Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Flea, Dr. Dre, Rick James, Prince, Daft Punk, Primus, and Thundercat—to just name a few— are all Brother-Natures' disciples. Today, a whole new generation of music fans have embraced Bootsy's legacy via Childish Gambino' platinum hit "Red Bone", a loving homage to Collin's 70's smash "I'd Rather Be With You."
Bernard Purdie
BERNARD PURDIE was born June 11, 1939 in Elkton, Maryland as the eleventh of fifteen children. Purdie began already as a six-year-old to bang out rhythms on improvised equipment. At 14 years of age he purchased his first real drum set and became the most important provider for the family - earning his pay with country and carnival bands. This "schooling" enabled Purdie to "feel my way into nearly every kind of music, 'cause I had to know all styles and was never afraid to try something new."

Purdie moved to New York in 1960 after finishing high school and played with (among others), Lonnie Youngblood before landing his first hit with King Curtis. This led to his engagement with Aretha Franklin in 1970 - the beginning of an unparalleled career. Since then, Purdie has been a regular guest in the studios of the stars of Jazz, Soul, and Rock, working together with Paul Butterfield as well as Larry Coryell, Miles Davis, Hall & Oates, Al Kooper, Herbie Mann, Todd Rundgren and Cat Stevens, as well as regularly producing his own solo albums under his own name.

James Gadson
JAMES GADSON - drummer, producer, singer, and songwriter – played on the best known 103rd Street cuts like "Express yourself," which was sampled by Dre for NWA's "Express Yourself". This was just the beginning for Gadson's profilic career, which next found him in the mix with Bill Withers producing, writing, and playing on the soulcessful Still Bill LP, which featured "Use Me," "Lean on Me," and the funky "Kissing my Love," which has been sampled to no end.

The Jungle Brothers cut up his drums live for "Straight out the Jungle."

From there he became one the most sought out studio drummers, playing on 300 gold records at last count, though you would never suspect it from his ever-humble disposition.

He played on Marvin Gaye's "Let's get it on," the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, Herbie Hancock's Manchild, and most recently Beck, Paul McCartney, and Ray Charles discs.
Fred Wesley
Fred Wesley is the legendary trombonist and author best known as the bandleader owhom James Brown relied for orchestrating all those funky horn hits and licks. For nearly 30 years he has led his own jazz-funk band, the New JBs, a group whose mastery reflects the very definition of tight. Recognized as a progenitor of hip hop through his sampled work with Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic, Fred also is part of the Generations Trio organ jazz unit and the klezmer-flavored musical mashup that is Abraham Incorporated.
Blackbyrd McKnight
DeWayne "Blackbyrd" McKnight is a legendary guitarist and pioneer of fusion, jazz, funk and beyond!! Blackbyrd was a member of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, a jazz-funk fusion band from 1975 through 1978 and Parliament-Funkadelic from 1978 though the present. He served briefly as guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers after the death of Hillel Slovak in 1988 He also recorded and toured with Miles Davis amongst many other luminaries!!
Norwood Fisher
John Norwood Fisher is the bass player for the funk/punk/rock/ska/metal/soul band Fishbone. Fisher has played bass in the band throughout its history, even as other members have come, gone, and returned. Fisher generally lends propulsive slap-funk playing to the band's tunes, while holding down the band's grooves throughout their myriad changes of musical direction. He is a founding member of funk band Trulio Disgracias.

He is also known for his live and in studio ongoing works with artists such as Rodleen Getsic. Most recently he has been working on a solo project calling himself Woody Weedstraw, his material is inspired from his love for pot smoking. In addition, he is part of the supergroup Mr. Green All-Stars, consisting of ex-members of Bad Brains and the Dead Kennedys. His recent work also includes Roosevelt Collier, TEN w/ Thomas Pridgen and Eric McFadden, The Big Ol' Nasty Letdown, and Banyan w/ Stephen Perkins.
